So, what is this amazing tool?
The humble, but oh so power resistance band!
If you're not using bands, you are missing out on the single most powerful way to create Real Fitness!
I've been using this tool more and more in my own personal training - especially as I as get older to make sure I maintain and even improve everything I listed above along with it being very "joint friendly".
As we get older simple vertical movements with weights and body weight just isn't enough to keep us limber and strong for "the real world" where strength, balance and coordination in all planes of movement is essential.
And you know what else? It's really fun!
Below I put together a short video just to give you a little idea of the versatility available with this great training tool.
If you'd like the strength, speed, and agility of someone 20 or 30 years younger than you, then "bands" are far and away the best single tool out there.
Now don't get me wrong, I love body weight training and free weights but they just can't replicate the real world planes of resistance and functional movement the way bands can.
Oh yeah, I also mentioned in the vid that you don't have to have a bar to use attachment based training with bands. Below is a picture of the Band Utility Strap and as you can see it easily attaches to a door frame.
